ELABS RLX

The LXR-02's own firmware engine, running inside your DAW. Six synth voices, the hardware's step sequencer locked to your host's clock, and a few things the hardware never had.

What's inside

A drum machine, not a sample player

Every sound is synthesized live by the same code that runs on the LXR-02 — nothing is sampled, and every knob is a real parameter.

The real LXR-02 engine

The firmware's own C code, compiled for your Mac — not an emulation. Three drums, snare, clap/cymbal and hi-hats, with FM, transient clicks, filters, LFOs, velocity mods and kit morphing.

The hardware sequencer, synced

64 patterns of 7 tracks with parameter locks, probability, flams, euclidean patterns, shuffle and song mode, clocked from your DAW. The LANES view edits velocity, chance, note and locks per step.

ENTROPIA MOD effectsNEW

Every voice gets its own sends to delay, ring modulator and reverb, then a master filter, drive and compressor. The ring modulator has an LFO that can lock to the beat.

The MaestroNEW

Plays your pattern like a person would: small variations every bar, fills every 4, 8 or 16 bars, and moves on decays, colour, sends, LFO and a filter sweep — each with its own chance and depth. Your pattern itself never changes.

Kits & patterns in hardware format

Kits are .SND and patterns .PAT, the same files as the LXR-02's SD card. Import Erica Synths' free factory content and sound packs straight from their zips, save your own back out.

Made for the studio

Preset browser with stars and tags, voice lock while browsing, undo/redo, a resizable panel, and everything saved inside your DAW project. Run as many instances as you like.

The panel

Laid out like the hardware

The front panel follows the LXR-02, with a few pages of its own.

LXR-02 → plugin

Same engine. More room.

If you know the LXR-02, you already know RLX. If you don't, you get one of the deepest drum synths around, without the box.

=Same as the hardware

  • =The firmware's synthesis, untouched: oscillators, FM, filters, envelopes, LFOs
  • =Kits and patterns in the LXR-02's own file formats
  • =The same sequencer: locks, probability, flams, euclid, song mode

+Only in RLX

  • +ENTROPIA MOD per-voice effects and the Maestro
  • +LANES per-step editing, preset browser, undo/redo
  • +Synced to your DAW, saved in your project, as many instances as you want

Factory content

Bring your LXR-02 sounds

RLX comes with eleven EntropiaLabs kits and seven patterns. Erica Synths' factory content and sound packs are free on their site — import them in a few seconds:

  1. Download the factory content and sound packs from Erica Synths' LXR-02 page.
  2. In RLX open BROWSER → IMPORT → CHOOSE A ZIP… and pick a downloaded zip (or a copy of your SD card).
  3. Its kits and projects show up as their own bank, ready to load. Copies live in ~/Music/ELABS RLX.

Free download

Free

ELABS RLX is free. If it ends up in your tracks, a tip on Ko-fi keeps the next tools coming.

Version 1.0 · one installer for Apple Silicon and Intel.

Requirements

  • macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon or Intel.
  • A DAW that loads VST3 plugins — built and tested in Ableton Live 12.
  • No Audio Unit version yet.

Installing

  • Run the installer — it puts ELABS RLX.vst3 in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3.
  • It's an independent build, not signed with a paid Apple certificate, so macOS asks once: right-click → Open, or System Settings → Privacy & Security → "Open Anyway".
  • Rescan plugins in your DAW and look for ELABS RLX under instruments.
⚠️ First release. Tested in Ableton Live 12 on macOS; other VST3 hosts should work but haven't been tried yet. Running into something? Let us know.
